Description
Noche Buena is the Philippine tradition most families celebrate. The last Mass of Simbang Gabi or midnight mass is attended, then a family feast known as 'Noche Buena' takes place after midnight.
Most homes are decorated with brightly colored lanterns called "parol," which is the symbol of Philippine Christmas. Some homes have Christmas trees and Nativity scenes.
Family, friends and neighbors gather to wish each other "Maligayang Pasko" (Merry Christmas). Food in buffet style is served in abundance. Among the favorite foods prepared in the Philippines during Christmas are: sweet ham, roasted pig or 'lechon', pancit noodles, chicken or pork adobo, morcon, rice, lumpia and for dessert, bibingka and puto bungbong. Of course, the celebration isn't complete without San Miguel beer, wine, and liquor.
This is the 4th version of my painting Philippine Christmas. Thanks for visiting.
